I didn't know about alchemy missing crafting items, but crafting isn't so bad right now imo. Gemcutting crashes have been fixed (today); the bug where the quest doesn't update unless done a certain way could do with being fixed though. (for gemcutting, that is) The drop rate on leather for skinning needs tweaking as well.

This is the one game i actually like crafting. Lazy people will never find any nodes, which means more % for me to gather. It also means the gatherers/crafters who put in the extra effort get better rewards (basically, more locations of nodes to use). The random encounters are quite cool.

I'd like the option to replace a profession for a fee. I picked alchemy, thinking 'yeah, i'll get a nice supply of stamina pots now'. Yet it costs the same to make a pot as it does to buy it from a vendor - plus you have to gather mats (which, apparently aren't in-game then ). Waste of time - me wants armoursmith for me gemz!

When you get to lvl 47-50, solo run sanctum. Almost everything will be grey, so just kill the bosses. Brings in 10 or so silver every 10mins () Other than that, at 50+ i hear the money starts pouring in (yay for me being 49..). Right now i have just over 1 gold.

They're going to have a patch every Monday and Thursday till stuff is fixed. Had one big patch today. 3 important things were :
- Demo buffed significantly.
- Socketing fixed(It used to crash your client)
- Armsman's Arena made private(You get your first epics from this and it was a clusterRED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO)

other minor fixes, anyone interested knows where to find them

You know, I was playing that the last couple of days and thought "this must be a bug right? Because no game designer worth their salt would be so M***** F****** stupid as to actually intend for it to work this way?"

But no, it was working as intended. Frightening, really.

Actually socketing is still broken. The patch didn't resolve the issue =/

Well, I'm further glad I haven't purchased and subscribed right away. I heard that leveling was pretty easy, so I'd be getting to the cap pretty fast - and hearing how most of the end-game is bezerk at the current moment, it looks like I'm going to be waiting even longer.

Here's hoping, at least.

ok I canceled my subscription to AoC today. I'll join back up once they have their game fixed or working as it should be.

Too little content at low levels. Too little content at high levels. Weak mounted combat, weak item crafting.

The nice thing about paid for play MMO's is that money talks.

At 47 I have about 4 gold and 87 silver, or at least the last time I checked. Use the auction house its your friend.

I was going to respond to Loki again, but I'm not sure if he's played AoC; thus might just be a little biased or skeptic based from the vibe I've already gotten.

@Dan - If you're talking about the blues that drop at Sanctum, you do realize those are non-tradeable right?

@Snow Bunny - I think their support and moderation is a little too good, or maybe I'm just used to Anet's lazy and laid back nature.

Nevin, are you on the US servers? Because EU support has been non existent. Though they're great at deleting negative threads on the forum.

I'll stick with it for three months and see how it goes. The way it's going at the moment I'll be at lvl 60 before they sort out the crafting, gathering broke again with the last patch and I 'd decided to do gemcutting.. hoho...

I'm still having fun with the fighting, but there isn't really that much difference between this and any other MMO for ranged casters, in fact I'd say my priest has even less buttons to press than my old Paladin. Spellweaving... meh, can't see it being any use apart from in raids tbh.

Fun Fact : The security aspect has huge flaws too. Just to get you thinking - Database authentication info is transmitted in Cleartext to the server from the client. They trust the client way too much. With hex editing, API hooks, packet sniffers there's no limits to how much I can break this game if I wanted to.

All the end game content (well, raids - sieges aren't in yet) are there, just without loot tables. They said these (loot) would be added in the near future, as well as lower levels itemization. Yet neither were mentioned in the letter from the game director.

Where the hell are they???

Ah funcom and their first lunch. Remember AO when it first came out? Talking about AO, what a game that was. Now if AO get a face lift with AoC engine that would be awesome.

heh, I've got a level 71 Guardian with Weapon making tier 2 complete & a level 45 Barbarian and your telling me I'm doing it wrong. What arrogance. Heck I even stopped and smelled the roses most of the time. I'm doing it wrong my ass. The end game content is smaller than I thought it would end up being. Even 24 man raid instances are un inspiring. Low levels are over and done with way to quickly as well. The game pushes you too quickly to 80 then has no content.

This game is currently not worth 15$ a month.

As I said I'll be back with the game is done 6 months from now.

Dan, I'm level 80, and WHERE IS MY HIGH END CONTENT? I can blow up anything I want as the HoX but it's boring.

Also Nevin, their support is nonexistant.

I sent in a pm to one of their forums admins and they said I was banned for pejorative comments regarding the lack of finish in the game.

OH RIGHT I REMEMBER, IT'S GREAT TO CENSURE CRITICISM ESPECIALLY WHEN IT'S RIGHT.

Default As a consumer, I feel obligated to warn you about AoC

I have gotten 3 PMs today from people asking me about AoC...... they were people thinking about getting it and wanting my input.

So I may as well make a thread.

As a consumer, I feel obligated to help my fellow man. If I buy something from a store or services from a business and they perform an act of fraud, I sure as heck warn my friends, family and community to make sure no one else is defrauded.

Age of Conan is a terrible game, it is not finished. The beginning is very polished. After the very start, there is simply no game.

I am not some rabid anti-fanboy, fanboy, generic internet lunatic etc, I am an adult, I am employed full time at a professional job, I pay my taxes. I can say with some confidence I am older than most of this forum, though I confess i've loved computer games as long as they have been around. MMOs have a soft spot in my heart. I have a very good machine, I run the game at it's highest setting with few technical glitches, so that is not an issue for me.

I am making this thread to stop other people from being cheated.

The good about AoC:

1. The beginning of the game, the island of Tortage is well polished. Quests are abundant and fun, they are well designed, mostly bug free. They have high quality voice acting for each and every NPC.
2. The graphics are nice, though I have never cared about graphics much in games, gameplay is always far more important for me.

That is the full list of what is good.

The bad about AoC:

1. After Tortage, the quality and quantity of quests takes a nosedive. The second you leave the new player island, the voice acting stops. The number of quests takes a nose dive. The fun factor of the quests takes a nose dive. There are bugged quests. As you level up quests effectively disappear, gradually becoming rarer and rarer till they disappear. Player vs player fighting is shallow, empty and pointless. I enjoy PVP and have enjoyed games where it is a key feature. I play on a RP-PVP server. The PVP is simply not fun, there is no purpose to it at all and it is impossible to fight people who are more then 5 or 6 levels higher then you and win. If someone 6 levels higher attacks you(except for certain class combos) you WILL die. Random jerks attacking others on the RP-PVP servers is not constant, but enough to be irritating. There is nothing to actually DO in the game. There is no content. It is like buying a box of ice cream and finding it is empty, there is simply nothing in there. The developers cannot possibly add enough content to satisfy gamers. Every time a game so shallow comes out, the developers promise they will add content, which usually translate to one more race, or one dungeon, or one new area or what have you. The game is so empty of content that the developers cannot ever add enough to bring the game to where it should be, without another year and a half of development and selling a new game.

2. Attributes(strength, dexterity, intelligence, what have you) do not work. This is a key, core feature of the game which simply does not work.

3. A majority of feats in the game are broken, insofar as they do not have ANY effect, or do not work properly. This would be the GW equivalent of skills not doing ANYTHING, or their descriptions being entirely incorrect. When I say entirely incorrect I mean, entirely incorrect. If a description says it does +100 X damage or what have you, it may well do 5 damage or 50 or none at all, there is no way to tell. This is not an exaggeration, a majority of "feats"(skills) for every class simply do not work at all, or are drastically mislabeled.

4. There is no inventory system or items in the game. At least there is effectively no inventory system. The difference between each item in the game is minimal. All the equipment mostly looks the same for each class. The difference in the function and power of items is negligible or non exist ant. You may find an interesting piece of loot every few hundred monsters you kill which increases your combat abilities by a negligible amount, truly negligible, 1% etc. Quests give rewards, however quests dry up as you level and even the best quest loot is negligible.

5. Crafting is utterly broken, many, many crafting skills do not work properly. The necessary items do not drop from any monster or spawn, or the skills simply do not work. One of the skills, gem crafting, actually CRASHES your machine! The developers actually posted in the last patch notes that they fixed it.... then posted an update later saying that it does not.

Tortage is fun and will last you 1 day if you rush through it, or 3 days if you take it slow. Then the game effectively ends, it is quite clear the developers wanted to make a very strong early area to well, sucker people in and then they stopped developing the rest of the game. The reviews which rate this game highly have never left Tortage, the starting island. I looked at the reviews online and at fan sites before I bought the game and should have listened to the critics, I did not.

I am trying to save you money. Do not be deceived or swindled, this game is utterly unfinished, unfinished to the degree that no amount of patching will fix it, is it effectively missing a game.

Go spend the $50 on a movie and some movie food, you'll buy more happiness with it that way. Releasing a bad game is one thing, in the gaming world today you have expect unfinished or undeveloped games. This is not a case of Funcom simply making an unfinished game. This is a case of Funcom activley defrauding the public. They could not have possibly put more effort into Tortage, the starting area which will hold most casual gamers over for 4-5 days, maybe even 6. After that initial area, the quality of the game takes a nose dive and gets much worse, rapidly. They try to sell you a car which will get you home and then collapses in your driveway.

DO NOT buy this game.

I agree with all the points above, but it's not enough to warrant not buying the game imo. Depends on the person's patience. I'm hopeful FC will get all this stuff fixed, but beginning to lose hope..

Every patch brings a 'this is fixed', when it actually isn't. And then they break more things - WTB clean patch?

According to the forums you're banned from, there are 5-6 instances i believe. Maybe those other high levels are chatting shit, idk, i'm not at 80 yet. (nowhere near )

Epics are purples. The arena gives you level 50 epics, but as you can guess seeing rest of the itemization, an epic weapon is the same dps as a 'white' weapon but with 4+ random stats added to it, which probably don't do anything.

But anyway, I think we can all agree that 1-50 is very very good, even with the issues, but 50-80 and endgame are shit. I'll keep playing it, but I find myself already looking forward to AION.

New armor sets being added soon. A preview of a ranger set :

After being used to WoW's pink and purple power ranger armor with bulbs on shoulders, I'd say this is excellent.

lololol

Anyway, thought i'd add this is PvP gear being added tomorrow. I'm guessing PvP EXP will be turned on too. And they've also scrapped the jail system (yet stated there will be an anti-griefing system of some sort).

Seeing as loot sucks, may as well gank everyone for sexy PvP gear. Yay.
